While Sony have had the better first-party games when it comes to the current-gen, Microsoft have been attempting to dethrone them when it comes to the next-gen by purchasing the likes of Obsidian. Now, in what is truly an astonishing move, Microsoft have bought Zenimax’s Bethesda for $7.5 billion. This has resulted in lots of people asking: will Elder Scrolls 6 be an Xbox Series X exclusive? Here you’ll discover whether Elder Scrolls 6 will be an Xbox exclusive or if it’s still coming to PS5.
Deathloop and Ghostwire Tokyo will still be timed PS5 exclusives at launch despite being part of the Bethesda catalogue. It’s similar to how Psychohanuts 2 will be on Sony’s next-gen machine also despite Microsoft having purchased Double Fine productions.
Even though Microsoft now owns Bethesda and all of its IPs and studios, Todd Howard seems to hint Elder Scrolls 6 will still release on other platforms. A bit ago Phil Spencer said games can stay. Even if Elder Scrolls 6 is not a PC and Xbox Series X exclusive, the fact that it will likely be on Xbox Game Pass is a game-changer, as PS5 owners will have to buy the game at full price.

Will Elder Scrolls 6 be an Xbox exclusive?
Elder Scrolls 6 will not be an Xbox Series X or S exclusive as it should also be available on PC.
However, it’s possible that Elder Scrolls 6 will be an Xbox Series X and S console exclusive which would be bad news for Sony gamers.
It’s not confirmed that the next instalment after Skyrim will be limited to Microsoft’s console only.

Microsoft have said that any Bethesda exclusives will be judged on “case-by-case” scenarios.
This statement provides hope for the likes of Elder Scrolls 6, Doom, and other Bethesda IPs landing on PS5, so it’s not all doom and gloom at the moment of writing.
Is Elder Scrolls 6 coming to PS5?
It’s possible that Elder Scrolls 6 is still coming to and will be on PS5.
Microsoft haven’t confirmed that Elder Scrolls 6 will be an Xbox exclusive, meaning there’s still the possibility of it coming to and being on PS5 in the future.
As for why it’s possible that Microsoft would share the luxurious IP with Sony gamers, it’s because they’d ultimately end up with more money.
Sales on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X and S combined would earn Microsoft more money as they are now the publisher of Bethesda games.
There’s also the fact Microsoft have verbally been more against exclusives compared to Sony, so it’s possible that they could put their money where their mouth is. Does xbox have animal crossing.
However, while it’s possible that Elder Scrolls 6 will be on PS5, it’s also highly possible that it will be an Xbox exclusive.

In one fell swoop, when Microsoft’s acquisition of Bethesda’s parent company ZeniMax Media goes through, they will have brought some of the biggest franchises in the industry into the first party fold, including the likes of DOOM, Wolfenstein, Dishonored, Prey, and perhaps most crucially, heavyweights such as The Elder Scrolls and Fallout.
Of course, that does leave one to wonder what the nature of upcoming games such as Starfield and The Elder Scrolls 6 will be, especially with regards to availability on PlayStation consoles. Microsoft so far has said that that will be decided for all future Bethesda games on a case-by-case basis (though it’s not something they need to do to make good on their investment in the acquisition), while Bethesda themselves seem to want to make their games available to as many people as possible.
Either way, we don’t have a concrete answer yet (and probably won’t for a while). Speaking recently with GamesIndustry though, Bethesda’s Todd Howard hinted oh so slyly that upcoming heavyweights like The Elder Scrolls 6 might not be exclusive to Xbox.
In response to a remark that it’s hard to imagine Microsoft making The Elder Scrolls 6 available only on Xbox in the console market, Howard replied with a smile, “I would agree that is hard to imagine.” Interestingly enough, that is all he had to say.

Both Starfield and The Elder Scrolls 6 (especially the latter) are a ways off from launch, so questions of exclusivity for both are probably going to be around for a while. For what it’s worth, reports have suggested that prior to ZeniMax’s acquisitions talks with Microsoft, Bethesda had been approached by Sony for an exclusivity deal for Starfield.
