Sometimes you just gotta work an image to get what you like (or what you saw in your head when you took it).

Being a longtime Silver Efex Pro 2 (SEP2) user I got a free upgrade to the entire Nik Collection just recently. I was interested in trying it out but since Google's acquisition of Nik I had been a lot less enthusiastic that they would continue supporting the Mac given the way they promptly killed Snapseed. Several months back I had made the switch to Tonality Pro for BW and haven't particularly missed SEP2 at all.
After playing with the Nik Collection I am happy to report that overall everything seems to work well. SEP2 got a bit of a UI redo and appears to be significantly faster than it used to be (which is good) BUT...I am not seeing any compelling reason to go back. Tonality Pro is a nice flexible tool for BW (if you have a Mac) and while I would argue SEP2 is probably a bit more sophisticated (control wise) Tonality Pro's ability to add layers, mask and apply corrections is way ahead of the selective adjustments SEP2. They're both great tools but Google can keep their Nik Collection because I don't see myself needing it

- Tonality is an organized system of tones (e.g., the tones of a major or minor scale) in which one tone (the tonic) becomes the central point for the remaining tones. The other tones in a tonal piece are all defined in terms of their relationship to the tonic. In tonality, the tonic (tonal center) is the tone of complete relaxation and stability.
